Laura and Colin had always dreamed of a seriously, elegant wedding day… and that’s exactly what they got!

When Laura met her Colin she “wanted to kiss him straight away” – he had such a big smile! Their first date was at their local pub where they were going to lunch, but they were both so nervous that they couldn’t eat! They took a walk by the seaside in Brighton and Colin stopped Laura at the newly renovated bandstand, asking her to be his wife, “he opened the box revealing this amazing ring,” says Laura. “I said yes straight away!”

This bride found her dress in Couture and Tiaras Bridalwear in Burgess Hill. The Sophia Tolli fishtail gown made Laura feel elegant and beautiful and she found the shape enhanced her curves and waist. She wanted to show off the back of her dress as much as possible so decided against a veil, but added the wow factor with some Swarovski earrings and stunning silk shoes, also from Couture and Tiaras.

The bridesmaids wore red dresses from Coast and Laura also bought them Swarovski gold earrings for the big day. Colin and his best men opted for navy blue suits with white shirts – Colin wore an ivory tie and the groom party wore red, matching the maids perfectly. The couple had a religious ceremony with two readings and Laura’s mum walked her down the aisle. One of her favourite memories was when they were saying their vows and exchanging the rings, the rings wouldn’t fit! Everyone laughed, including the vicar, but they eventually went on after some gentle persuasion. Laura and Colin broke tradition with no speeches, instead saying just a few words of thanks.

Their theme was classy and elegant – they bought signs for around their stunning venue and their friend provided a sweets’ table. The flowers decorated their reception perfectly – Tony Dunn Flowers based in Hove created amazing flower arrangements in tall glasses. The cake was four tiers by Sweet Dreams in Sussex with layers of fruit cake, chocolate and coffee and walnut with a chocolate ganache layer to finish.

Their stationery from Pearl and Lace was completely in keeping with the theme with injections of red, and favours for the guests were boxes of Lindt chocolate. They had a DJ for the evening and singer for the arrival drinks and wedding breakfast – with their romantic first dance to John Legend’s All Of Me. One of the bride’s favourite memories was of her friends doing a dance routine that they had all prepared and practiced for weeks before, “they were so good,” she says. “We loved it!”
