Modern-day princess

From full, fairytale gowns to more slinky, sexy silhouettes, there was a gown for every girl on this spring’s catwalk. The trend for lace details and subtle sparkly embellishments means that every bride can become a modern-day princess. Vintage details like boleros and capes also featured highly this season, as did statement headbands with a 20’s twist. Dreams Bridal, Couture Room, Puure Bridal and Bridal Path were just few of the boutiques who showcased their beautiful gowns on the catwalk including new designs from Justin Alexander, Jesus Peiro, Diane Harbridge, Annais Bridal and Tara Keely.

Groomswear with personality

If you’re short on groomswear inspiration, the Bliss Wedding Shows catwalk is a great place to start. Visitors were treated to sharp three-piece suits, formal tails, relaxed lounge suits and highlandwear. Snazzy waistcoats and ties were a real theme, as was navy blue – a hot colour for country-inspired grooms in 2014. Top names on the catwalk included Moss Bros, Attire Menswear, Greenwoods, Slaters and Groom who stock top designer labels like Ted Baker OneSix5ive and Paul Costelloe.

Flattering jackets for mums

Modern mums want two looks in one and the easiest way to do that is with an elegant jacket. Figure flattering and comfortable on a cool summer’s evening, this year’s best jackets boast three-quart length sleeves, that conceal that tricky upper arm area without looking bulky. Kay Nelson and Rodayo were on hand with the latest designs, as well as fab finishing touches in the form of fascinators, hats, clutch bags and heels.

Natural beauty

Maja and Garlandz Hair Studio were among the hair and make-up artists who created our gorgeous catwalk looks. There were two distinct looks – Natural Beauty, with long flowing boho-style curls and subtly blushed cheeks, and Retro Glamour, with dramatic updos and statement red lips. Which would work best for you?
