To celebrate 20 years of Amazon in the UK, Amazon has revealed the most popular songs and albums of the past two decades…

To celebrate 20 years in the UK, researchers at Amazon questioned 2,000 Brits to uncover the most loved songs and albums as well as books, toys and films of the past two decades.

Ed Sheeran’s X was voted the most popular album, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone came top of favourite films, and The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown was voted the best book.

The research also looked at top fashion trends of the past 20 years, with skinny jeans, jeggings and onesies coming in at first, second and third place.

Unsurprisingly, the smart phone was voted the most influential piece of tech, followed by Wi-Fi, broadband and social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Film and TV streaming services such as Prime Video, banking apps and tablets also made the top 10.

Ed Sheeran’s second album just pipped Adele’s 21 to the top spot (with 24% of the vote) and Amy Winehouse coming third with her seminal album Back to Black.

According to the data, shopping online saves us four hours and 42 minutes every week, as well as a £368 saving for your wallet, too. Here’s to the next 20 years, Amazon!
