Abbott Lynn looked at the number of proposal Instagram hashtags, proposal tweets, Google search volume and proposal posts on TripAdvisor to discover the most popular locations, with the most blushing betrotheds posting their proposal pics to Insta, tweeting their exciting news and generally buzzing about their engagement online.
The best place to propose was Central Park in New York. Spanning across a huge 843 acres, New York City’s iconic Central Park has plenty of stunning proposal spots, including lakes, gardens, pavilions and even a castle!

Tweets were calculated as the volume of tweets including the word ‘engagement’ geotagged to the location in the last 12 months.
Search interest is based on Google Trends data from the last 12 months, selecting the highest search interest for engagement within that time period. TripAdvisor posts are the number of forum posts in the location that mention ‘engagement’.
